i do it every 3k since i can do it for free. I dont trust the oil life monitors. We get them a lot that have like 20% left and they already went 8k. It suposed to be based on how you drive but some will let you go to 10k between oil changes. I dont care how you drive thats too long

yeah it is so nice to just wrench it off and not deal with a filter wrench.... It is worth the extra money.

I stopped using fram filters after having 2 of em collapse on a ford ranger and an old alero. That was enough to scare the crap out of me. I usually go with mobil filters or if i cant find em then whatever the OE brand is (delco, motorcraft, mopar, etc).

As for oil changing schedule, 3,000 if conventional oil, 5,000 if synthetic. Normally I only run Mobil 1 in all my vehicles (unless i can find AMS Oil) but in the blazer due to its age i run Valvoline Max Life just to keep the seals in good shape, especially since i dont drive it that often.

I've heard stories of the Fram's having issues. Not exactly the ideal part to fail. I always use Mobile One filters too except for the Benz. It gets Mercedes one's which are actually pretty cheap.

Crap, I'm over due for an oil change. Guess it can wait a few more days.

I've always been a little sketch on Penzoil products. Had issues with rough idle on vehicles with it. My truck specifically was running penzoil synthetic when the original owner had it and it idled a little rough when i bought it (mostly when cold, after it warmed it it went away). Changed to mobil 1 and the funny idle went right away. Thought it was old oil but checked the service record and the penzoil was put in right before i bought it.
