I always have done battery to battery and never once had one explode. Think about it, how do you charge a battery? How does your alternator charge the battery?

Honestly the only time I ever used the direct to block method with the negative the vehicle had trouble starting. As soon as i moved the cable to the battery, turned over like a champ.

As for the ECU, those arent cheap but you can pick one up at a junkyard for next to nothing if ya ever need one. And why would you pay someone to change it? Its a direct swap over with simple hand tools.

I'll do either depending on how easy it it to get to the battery terminals.

I have had a battery start to boil over on some farm equipment. They just got replaced though.

i've jumped plenty of dead cars at the lexus dealership. we use one of those jump packs (same as battery to battery)

you will only explode the battery (or at least have a high chance of) if you swap the connections. + to - (red to black)

I do to the frame just cause that's what my dad always taught me haha. But ive done battery to battery before when I couldn't get a good connection to the ground. Although I did have one issue with going battery to battery...one time the cables got REAL hot. Melted the plastic near the teeth of the cable and made the copper jaws malleable enough when I closed the jaws they pretty much bent flat against each other...didnt retain the jaw shape at all. This was all in the few seconds from hooking up, going to start my engine, and smelling plastic as I turned. Scurry...

But yea I dont see the battery exploding before a cable getting fried or blowing a terminal connection or something.
